Power Piston Retainer
Bought this power piston retainer after watching one of their many Quadrajet videos on YouTube. I was rebuilding my Q-Jet on my ‘87 Ramcharger 360 (I know, a GM carburetor on a Mopar) which I was delighted to discover a Quadrajet under the air cleaner. I’m a GM fan since the late ‘70’s and have rebuilt many Quadrajets in the past. So I was surprised to see something that’s not included in the typical rebuild kit (with the lone exception of QuadraPower). I knew from my experience to get a rebuild kit, a new float & a choke pull-off to start. I ended up buying the “short” inlet filter & an electric choke coil to finish the rebuild. One the fuel pump (also new) refilled the float bowl, it started right up and idled nicely and as it slowly warmed up, the new choke parts did their thing and it ran great. I also bought the Quadrajet rebuild and modify by Cliff Ruggles, see my other review about that.

Power Piston Retainer.
When I first tried to install it it seemed to large and I mangled it a little. After a couple of days of letting my frustrations subside I took a single edged razor and trimmed it in the split so it could squeeze smaller. I also trimmed off some mangled parts and then it worked perfectly. My suggestion is to order an extra one or two. They are cheap enough and it is better to have it on hand than to have to wait a couple of days for new ones to arrive. Don't rush it. The things actually work well once in place.

Awesome!
Finally! For everybody who has fought to keep the power piston down while installing the airhorn and/or gasket. It does take some effort to get it to seat in the main body but take your time and work it in.
