Book-“How to Rebuild and Modify Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors
Bought this book to “refresh” my memory from 40+ years ago. I used to rebuild Quadrajet carburetors starting in the late ‘70’s to about the mid ‘80’s as I was heavily into GM performance cars back then (still am, but the newer cars are all fuel injection). I did my 1st Q-Jet rebuild on my ‘73 Pontiac Grand Am with the 400 & a 4 speed manual. I was looking to restore drivability (if you can call it that on a early ‘70’s car) and to make some performance upgrades (like having the secondary air valve actually open fully when you floor it) and to be able to pass NJ’s state inspection for emissions. I then went on to many other GM Q-Jet applications on many other GM muscle cars that me & my friends owned back then. Even when I bought a winter beater, I’d also rebuild the Quadrajet and give it a full tune up for the best drivability, gas mileage & “state sniffer” legal emission (those last two go hand in hand). The book really covers in great detail how to identify your particular carburetor by model number and application. How to identify problem areas and how to make the proper adjustments and be able to fine tune your Quadrajet for your intended application. I’d highly recommend this book as a how to guide, a source of modification ideas and a great photo reference. I’m just over 60 years old and having worked on these before, I really needed to refresh my knowledge and this book (rather then a video, I’m old school & like printed pages to refer back to) really added to my library. I can’t wait to do my next Q-Jet overhaul!
